Alison Smith

Alison Smith (Nuffield College, Oxford) has been appointed to a Lectureship in Social Policy at the University of Edinburgh from 1 March 2006 and has been allowed to transfer her UPTAP Post-doctoral Fellowship to Edinburgh for commencement on 1 August 2006.

Paula Surridge

Paula Surridge (Department of Sociology, University of Bristol) has been invited by HEFCE to work on the analysis of the 2006 National Student Survey (a database of over 250,000 students) and has requested a break of 3-4 months from September 2006. This opportunity will allow Paula to put into practise some of the multi-level modelling techniques that she is hoping to develop during her UPTAP Fellowship. It will also allow her to work with non-specialists and policy makers using complex statistical models.

Dan Vickers

Dan Vickers (School of Geography, University of Leeds) has been appointed to a Lectureship in the Department of Geography at the University of Sheffield from 1 September 2006.

Paul Norman

Paul Norman (Cathie Marsh Centre for Census and Survey Research, University of Manchester) has been appointed to a Lectureship in the School of Geography at the University of Leeds from 7 August 2006 and is proposing to transfer his UPTAP Small research grant from that date.
